The underground scope on a solar field is a sequence, not a pile of unrelated tasks. Each capability hands off to the next, and a gap at any interface shows up as a schedule slip at the end. We run the sequence as one crew so the handoffs happen inside one company instead of across a contract boundary.
Before any rig moves, we vacuum-excavate to pothole and daylight existing utilities along the alignment, in line with the one-call damage-prevention practices the industry relies on. Records are a starting point, not the truth. We verify depth and position, then design the bore path around what is actually there. That up-front read is what keeps a bore from finding a line nobody mapped.
As civil opens the site, we bore the access-road and array crossings that open-cut cannot touch: live roads, rail, drainage, wetlands, and sensitive ground. Boring keeps the surface intact and keeps the crossing off the permit and restoration path that an open trench would put it on.
With the crossings in, we install the 34.5kV medium-voltage collection, the duct banks and conduit that carry the array back to the substation, plus the fiber and SCADA pathways that ride alongside. Collection ties the field together electrically and sets up the final tie-in.
The last and most schedule-critical bore is the interconnection or gen-tie crossing into the point of interconnection, substation, or switchyard. This is the bore that gates energization. It often crosses the busiest, most constrained ground on the project, and it is the one you least want a new sub mobilizing for at the eleventh hour.

Split this scope across separate subs and every handoff becomes an interface: a locate that does not match the bore plan, a duct bank that lands off the conduit schedule, a gen-tie crossing that waits on a rig from a third company.
